Emily Winters Interior Designer, Allied Member ASID

Some designers go through years of training to learn their craft and others, like Emily Winters, are simply born with the instinct to design. One of Emily’s earliest memories is sitting on her mother’s lap studying Better Homes & Gardens. Her fascination with what she saw on the pages of the magazine translated into drawings of boats and lighthouses where she would create individual rooms complete with furniture, wall treatments and lighting. Not typical for most six-year olds.

Emily began her career working at several design firms in the Midwest and Arizona. Landing at Peabody’s in 2006, she immediately made an impact with her ability to use color and texture to create warm, inviting spaces with maximum attention to every detail. Her impeccable work has been recognized by the ASID with four silver awards for her residential designs.

Most recently, Emily served as the lead designer at the spectacular Erin Hills Golf Club, site of the U.S. Open in 2017. Emily designed the Village Clubhouse and guest quarters with a sense of warmth and comfort to ensure guests feel like they have been whisked away to the splendors of the Irish countryside. Carefully selected furnishings included velvet sofas that find a balance of inviting with a touch of masculinity and European armoires which are used for storage as well as adding depth to a room. Accents such as pictures replicated from antique books and framed can be seen in throughout each cottage along with handmade quilts designed and made by a local women’s quilting club.

Emily shares her philosophy on what makes her client relationships a success: “My job is not to impose my taste and design style, but to create the perfect setting for my client’s everyday life. The best designs happen when we collaborate together.”
